CORNING - Nationally
syndicated conservative radio talk-show host Mike Gallagher will
broadcast Tuesday from Centerway Square in Corning as part of a
national book-signing tour.
Gallagher's broadcast from 9 a.m.
to noon will be followed from 1:30 to 4 p.m. by a book-signing
session. His new book, published by HarperCollins of New York City,
is "Surrounded by Idiots: Fighting Liberal Lunacy in
America."
Gallagher's talk show, syndicated by the Irving,
Texas-based Salem Radio Network, has more than 3.25 million
listeners, according to his Web site. It is heard locally on WWLZ-AM
820, a station of Backyard Broadcasting in Elmira.
In
addition to his radio show, Gallagher is a frequent contributor to
Fox News and occasionally a guest host on the cable news
station.
Prior to going national in 1998, Gallagher worked at
WABC-AM in New York City, at WGY-AM in Albany and WFBC-AM in
Greenville, S.C.
He began his radio career as a 17-year-old
high school senior in Dayton, Ohio.
The local stop Tuesday is
part of a 25-city cross-country bus tour that will see Gallagher in
the Williamsport area on Monday and the Albany area on
Wednesday.
WWLZ'S morning show, "Seth in the Morning," will
be broadcast from Centerway Square from 6 to 9 a.m.
Tuesday.
The broadcasts and book-signing are co-sponsored by
the Gaffer District Business Association and Storylines Bookstore
and Cafe of Watkins Glen, said Andy Parker of Backyard
Broadcasting.
Gallagher and his wife, Denise - a Democrat
whose heroine is Sen. Hilllary Rodham Clinton - are the parents of
four adult sons. They live in New York City and the Dallas
area.
